This reminds me of two near perfect replacement policys, Wusthof knives and Oura Ring. Wusthof replacing 10+ year old knive with fractured handle, no questions asked. Oura, when opening the chat, suggested if it is about a battery issue and after simple yes, they informed right away that their data verifies this and new ring on its way (keep the old)
I don't think enough companies do the correct math. Likely because of the siloed nature of most organizations. The need to build common bulkheads. The entire reverse logistics process is usually bloated, and I doubt whether most companies integrate the CLV component into their equations. "Send it, Keep it, or Discard it, the choice is yours" is likely to be far less expensive than the default, bloated process
